Nadir Abdeladim, a 66-year-old male of Arab ethnicity, tragically passed away on March 7, 2019, in Austin, Texas. Nadir was an IT consultant and lived in the Towers of Town Lake condominiums. His death was ruled a homicide by the medical examiner, who determined that he died from gunshot wounds and sharp force injuries.
The investigation revealed that Nadir's son, Hakim Abdeladim, 30, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with his father's death.
According to the arrest affidavit, Hakim had exhibited increasingly violent behavior and mental health issues prior to the incident. On the day of the murder, Hakim's parents had picked him up from his home in Lago Vista and taken him to a sporting goods store, where he purchased ammunition unbeknownst to them. After returning home, Hakim attacked his father with a rifle and a knife.
Nadir's wife, Rita Abdeladim, found her husband injured and immediately began performing CPR while waiting for emergency services to arrive. Despite their efforts, Nadir was pronounced dead at the scene. Hakim was later apprehended by authorities at a nearby hotel.
The tragic incident highlighted the challenges of dealing with mental health issues within families and the devastating consequences that can arise when they are not adequately addressed.
