In the early hours of May 27, 2025, the Walnut Park West neighborhood of Saint Louis, Missouri, was disturbed by the sound of gunfire, leading to the discovery of a tragic scene. Responding to calls about a shooting and a subsequent car accident around 2:50 a.m., police officers arrived at the intersection of Lillian and Woodstock Avenues to find a wrecked sedan. Inside the vehicle were two men who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was identified as 24-year-old Shiquan Washington, a Black male from Saint Louis.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the location and transported both Washington and the other victim, later identified as 37-year-old Donovan Whitt of Breckenridge Hills, to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, both men were pronounced dead. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Division has taken charge of the investigation into what they are treating as a double homicide.
As of now, the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the deaths of Shiquan Washington and Donovan Whitt. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist them in piecing together the events that led to this fatal incident.
