On the evening of December 22, 2025, authorities in Austin, Texas, were called to a residence in the Circle C neighborhood following a distressing report from a family member. At approximately 5:19 p.m., officers from the Austin Police Department arrived at the home located in the 10400 block of O'Rourk Lane. Upon entering the premises, they discovered a chaotic scene where Trevor Shepherd, a 20-year-old White male, had sustained fatal injuries alongside his grandfather.
The
investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute inside the residence. Detectives determined that a verbal altercation had broken out between Shepherd and his grandfather, identified as 79-year-old Charles Wagnon. As the argument intensified, the situation escalated violently, resulting in both individuals drawing firearms. Evidence collected at the scene indicated that the two men exchanged gunfire, striking one another during the confrontation.
Both individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency responders. Police investigators subsequently classified the event as a double homicide, marking the city's 53rd and 54th homicides of the year. Because the primary individuals involved in the shooting were both found dead, authorities did not seek any outside suspects or make additional arrests. The case was effectively closed by exception, with detectives concluding that the lethal exchange was contained entirely between the grandfather and his grandson within the home.
