Summary based on 6 sources
Miguel Angel Guevara, a 34-year-old father and resident of Austin, Texas, is remembered by his family as a beloved son, brother, and parent. His life was unexpectedly cut short on the evening of Tuesday, October 6, 2026, leaving behind his two children, Andre and Jacqueline. Miguel was a Hispanic man held in loving memory by his father, Justino Guevara Olmos, and his siblings, Juan Carlos Robledo, Guadalupe Mata, Luz Marie Robledo, Sandra Marisol Guevara, Tania Elizabeth Guevara, Manuel Alejandro Balderas, and Ericka Maria Pacheco. He was welcomed into the afterlife by his mother, Esmeralda Robledo Guevara, who had passed away before him. His obituary noted he would be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

The day of Miguel’s death began with simmering tension inside the apartment he shared with his roommate. That evening, at the La Madrid Apartments in the 11300 block of Menchaca Road in South Austin, his roommate, 24-year-old Christopher Foy, was involved in a heated argument with his girlfriend. According to police investigators, that dispute escalated to the point where Foy pointed a firearm at her. Soon after, a separate argument broke out between Foy and Miguel. The subject of their disagreement was rent money.

At 8:09 p.m., the argument between the roommates turned fatal. Police allege that during the confrontation, Foy shot Miguel and then fled the scene. Multiple calls reporting the shooting flooded into the Austin Police Department. When officers arrived, they found Miguel on the ground with apparent gunshot wounds. Austin-Travis County EMS personnel provided emergency medical aid and transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries were too severe. Miguel Guevara was pronounced dead at 8:58 p.m.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists from the Austin Forensic Science Crime Specialists were called to process the scene at the apartment complex. The investigation quickly identified Christopher Foy as the suspect. The Austin Police Department deployed numerous resources to find him. A few hours after the shooting, a coordinated effort involving the APD Tactical Intelligence Unit, patrol officers, the Air Support Unit, and a K9 Unit located Foy in the 4600 block of Nuckols Crossing, about nine miles away from the scene of the crime.

Christopher Foy was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged with murder. He was booked into the Travis County Jail. At the time, Miguel Guevara’s death was being investigated as Austin's 46th homicide of 2026. The case is now proceeding through the Travis County justice system.

In the weeks following his death, Miguel’s family and friends gathered to mourn their loss. A visitation was held on the evening of Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Mission Funeral Home on East Cesar Chavez Street, where a Recitation of the Holy Rosary took place. The following morning, a Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Julia Catholic Church on Lyons Road, after which he was laid to rest.

The investigation into Miguel's death remains active. The Austin Police Department has asked that anyone with information about the incident contact their homicide tip line at 512-974-TIPS.
