On the evening of May 19, 2024, 33-year-old Miguel Angel Marquez was fatally shot outside his residence on South San Marcos Street in San Antonio, Texas. Marquez had returned home around 10:45 p.m. and found himself locked out of the wrought iron gate surrounding the property. After his stepfather unlocked the gate, Marquez entered the house briefly before stepping outside alone. Approximately ten minutes later, a single gunshot was heard, followed by Marquez's cries for help.
He managed to re-enter the residence, bleeding from his wounds, and collapsed on the floor. Emergency Medical Services transported him to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In the course of their investigation, San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the area. The video revealed two unidentified men, both armed, near the scene shortly before the shooting. One individual, dressed in jeans and carrying a backpack, was seen handing a firearm to another person wearing shorts. These individuals are considered persons of interest in the case.
As of December 2024, no arrests have been made in connection with Marquez's death. The SAPD continues to seek public assistance in identifying the suspects.
