On August 8, 2024, at approximately 10:57 p.m., Killeen Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire and a man down in the 100 block of East Hallmark Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old William Donnell Spellman lying in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds. Justice of the Peace Nicola James pronounced him deceased at 11:08 p.m.
The Killeen Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division promptly initiated an investigation into Spellman's death, marking the city's 13th homicide of the year. Despite thorough efforts, including public appeals for information, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
