On December 21, 2022, 18-year-old Arreon Hughes from Killeen, Texas, tragically died from injuries sustained in a shooting incident. The incident occurred on December 17, 2022, when Hughes and another man were shot while riding in a vehicle in the 500 block of Lisa Lane. The vehicle crashed into a fence, and both Hughes and the other victim were found with gunshot wounds.
Hughes was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital via helicopter, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The case was initially investigated as an aggravated assault but was later upgraded to a murder investigation. The suspect vehicle, described as a red SUV or crossover-type vehicle, was last seen fleeing westbound on Atkinson Avenue. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation is ongoing. The Killeen Police Department has offered a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
