On April 10, 2023, in Jackson, Tennessee, 23-year-old Matthew Lopez Ray was fatally shot following a confrontation stemming from an earlier altercation. According to his fiancée, Hanna, the incident began with a dispute involving her, her friends, the suspect, and the suspect's girlfriend. In an attempt to resolve the conflict, Ray went to the suspect's residence to discuss the matter but was met with gunfire upon arrival.
