In the early morning hours of December 19, 2023, the life of 34-year-old Dominique Bonds was tragically cut short in a North Nashville alley. A Black male, Bonds was discovered suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his legs in the 1800 block of 15th Avenue North at approximately 2:20 a.m. Despite his grave injuries, Bonds managed to make his way to a nearby apartment and knock on the door, a final act of seeking help before he collapsed.
He was quickly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the fatal shooting was swiftly undertaken by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Their efforts soon pointed to a primary suspect, 31-year-old Rico Hall. In the days following Bonds' death, an arrest warrant was issued for Hall, charging him with criminal homicide. Authorities then turned to the public for assistance in locating the wanted man.
The search for Rico Hall concluded on March 6, 2024, when he was apprehended by the U.S. Marshal's Task Force. Hall was taken into custody on the outstanding homicide warrant without incident. Following his arrest, he was jailed on a $110,000 bond. While an arrest has been made, the investigation into the motive and the precise circumstances leading to the shooting of Dominique Bonds remains ongoing. Authorities continue to encourage anyone with further information to come forward as the case proceeds through the justice system.
