On Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, a day typically filled with joyous celebration, a sudden and violent altercation at a Nashville restaurant abruptly ended the life of 33-year-old Allen Beachem. The tragic event unfolded during a busy brunch service at Roasted, a restaurant located in the city's Salemtown neighborhood. Beachem, a male, was enjoying the holiday when a dispute erupted between him and another patron, later identified as 46-year-old Anton Rucker.
The argument escalated with
shocking speed. Witnesses reported that within moments of the initial disagreement, Rucker produced a handgun and fired multiple shots. Beachem sustained fatal injuries in the gunfire, which also resulted in non-life-threatening wounds to five other individuals. The restaurant was thrown into chaos as patrons scrambled for safety. In the midst of the panic, Rucker fled the scene, sparking an immediate and intensive manhunt by the Metro Nashville Police Department.
Investigators were able to quickly identify Rucker as the suspected gunman thanks to clear surveillance footage from the restaurant. A search for Rucker ensued, and on April 2, 2024, he was located at a residence in Princeton, Kentucky. He was taken into custody without incident on a fugitive from justice warrant. Rucker, who has a history of prior criminal convictions including aggravated assault, was subsequently charged with criminal homicide for the death of Allen Beachem. Authorities have indicated that additional charges related to the injuries of the other victims are expected. The motive for the fatal confrontation remains under investigation, though initial reports suggest the two men did not know each other and the argument may have started over something as minor as personal space.
