On the evening of August 29, 2023, 33-year-old Toby Tyree Murphy was fatally shot in Philadelphia's East Germantown neighborhood. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on the 200 block of East Ashmead Street, where police found Murphy suffering from multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. He was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
