On July 24, 2020, 21-year-old Zamal Smith from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was tragically lost to gun violence. The incident occurred in the 500 block of Snyder Avenue, where Zamal, a young Black man, was fatally shot. This event was part of a particularly violent period in Philadelphia; in July 2020 alone, the city experienced 48 homicides, a significant increase from the previous year.
