On April 10, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., 19-year-old Ramon Alvarez was fatally shot in his East Harlem apartment, located within NYCHA's Jefferson Houses near East 112th Street and Third Avenue. The incident occurred when Jose Rodriguez, 54, entered the residence and engaged in a heated argument with his ex-girlfriend, Alvarez's aunt.
