In a tragic turn of events on June 9, 2023, Fermin Reyna, a 37-year-old male, was shot and killed by a co-worker at a Little Caesars restaurant in Glendale, Arizona. The incident, which stemmed from a workplace dispute, unfolded in the morning hours near 43rd and Peoria avenues, leaving the community in shock.
The conflict between Reyna and his alleged killer, 40-year-old Oscar Ocon, reportedly began a few days prior to the fatal shooting.
The two men were at a nearby Target when Reyna allegedly made a disparaging remark about a security guard. This comment was relayed to the Target manager, who in turn informed the management at Little Caesars. Tensions escalated further when Reyna allegedly made threats to shoot Ocon and his family, which Ocon reportedly overheard.
On the morning of the shooting, Ocon allegedly confronted Reyna at their workplace. In what has been described as a brutal attack, Ocon is accused of shooting Reyna at least 12 times, hitting him in the head and torso. After the shooting, Ocon allegedly proceeded to stomp on Reyna's head. The entire incident was reportedly captured on the restaurant's surveillance footage.
Following the shooting, a call was made to the Glendale Police, informing them that Ocon had shot and killed Reyna and was hiding in the restaurant's bathroom. Ocon eventually surrendered to the authorities without incident and was taken into custody. Investigators found a firearm at the scene believed to be the murder weapon, along with 15 shell casings. Ocon reportedly admitted to the killing, stating that he wanted to 'take him out before he does me' and that he believed Reyna was 'a jerk.' Ocon was subsequently arrested and is facing charges of first-degree murder and disorderly conduct.
