On a crisp autumn morning in the quiet town of Warren, Herkimer County, a violent altercation shattered the peace and ended a man's life. The events of October 20, 2024, unfolded on Hicks Road, where a family dispute escalated to a fatal conclusion. Andrey M. Tarasenko, a 50-year-old white male from Congers, New York, was shot and killed as he attempted to drive away from the property. His nephew, 23-year-old Nikolai S.
Tazin of New City, New York, was quickly identified as the suspect and taken into custody at the scene by responding New York State Police troopers.
Witnesses reported that prior to the shooting, a physical fight had broken out between the uncle and nephew, resulting in injuries to both men. In the immediate aftermath of the altercation, as Tarasenko tried to flee in his vehicle, Tazin allegedly used a shotgun to shoot him. Nikolai Tazin was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, a class 'A' felony. He was arraigned at the State Police facility in Herkimer.
