Meir David HaKohen Kahane, an Israeli-American rabbi and ultranationalist politician, was assassinated on November 5, 1990, at the age of 58. Kahane was giving a speech at the New York Marriott East Side hotel in Manhattan when he was shot by El Sayyid Nosair, an Egyptian-born American citizen.
