In the winter of 2021, a hardworking father from Manhattan tragically lost his life in a sudden act of violence. Oscar Hernandez, a 24-year-old male, was fatally shot on the morning of December 16, 2021. The incident unfolded outside a barbershop located on Amsterdam Avenue and West 151st Street in Harlem.
Reports indicate that a confrontation began inside the barbershop when a gunman questioned Hernandez about what he was looking at.
When Hernandez stepped outside to address the situation, the assailant opened fire, striking him in the neck and back. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Family and friends remembered Hernandez as a dedicated father who worked for a food delivery service to support his family. His sister publicly lamented the senseless gun violence that claimed her brother's life. In the course of their investigation, the New York Police Department released an image of a person of interest. This eventually led to the arrest of 18-year-old Kevin Perez from the Bronx.
