On May 7, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., 18-year-old Asia Symone Baker was fatally shot in the 2100 block of Branch Street in St. Louis' Hyde Park neighborhood. Officers responding to reports of a shooting discovered Baker and another 18-year-old woman, identified as Aaliyah Gillom, deceased at the scene from gunshot wounds. Two additional victims, a 17-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman, sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
