On February 1, 2025, Rita Marie Williams, a 36-year-old African American woman from St. Louis, Missouri, was fatally shot during a dispute with a longtime friend. The incident occurred inside a vehicle in the 3900 block of Chouteau Avenue, near the Botanical Heights neighborhood.
