On July 31, 2023, 62-year-old Raymond Renaud Smith was fatally shot near the intersection of 38th Street and Bales Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. Officers responded to reports of gunfire around 11:15 a.m. and found Smith unresponsive on the ground in front of a residence. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
