On April 5, 2024, 26-year-old African American male Austin Jamel Maurice Davis, also known to friends and family as 'TK' or 'True King,' entered the Xpress Mart convenience store located at 7033 Prospect Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. He had visited the establishment to purchase items when a confrontation reportedly began between him and a store employee.
