On January 7, 2024, at approximately 10:06 p.m., Atlantic City Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating multiple gunshots in the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 37-year-old Kevin Gayle Jr. of Marmora, New Jersey, was unresponsive and transported to AtlantiCare Medical Center's City Division, where he was pronounced deceased.
