In the late hours of a Thursday night in Atlantic City, tragedy struck, leaving a family heartbroken and a community searching for answers. On March 16, 2023, Jamar Square, a 29-year-old Black male from Lawrence Township, New Jersey, was in the unit block of South Texas Avenue when the sound of gunfire pierced the air. When police responded to the reports of a shooting at approximately 10:40 p.m., they found Square suffering from gunshot wounds.
