In the winter of 2014, a young man's life was cut short on the streets of Atlantic City. Kenneth 'Nino' Sandoz, a 22-year-old male, was fatally shot on the evening of December 22nd. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of Adriatic Avenue, where responding officers from the Atlantic City Police Department discovered Sandoz's body around 7:47 p.m.
For more than two years, the case remained unsolved, leaving a void in the lives of his family and friends.
Then, in January 2017, a breakthrough was announced. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office charged 24-year-old Alexander Campbell with the murder of Sandoz. At the time of his arrest, Campbell was already incarcerated at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on an unrelated matter. The charges against him were significant, including first-degree murder and two second-degree weapons offenses.
The legal process that followed, however, did not lead to a conviction. In a turn of events, Alexander Campbell was later acquitted of the murder charges related to Kenneth Sandoz's death. The story took another tragic turn when, in a separate incident, Campbell himself was shot and killed. This left the resolution for Sandoz's death in a state of uncertainty, with the initial suspect cleared of the crime and later becoming a victim of violence himself.
