An 18-year-old Sicklerville man, Abdal McBride, was found fatally shot in Atlantic City on the night of December 2, 2012. A Black male, McBride was discovered by Atlantic City Police on the 500 block of Hobart Avenue around 9:30 p.m. after they responded to reports of gunfire in the area. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Born in the Atlantic City Medical Center, Mainland Campus, Abdal, also known as 'Raz,' had spent the majority of his life as a resident of Atlantic City before moving to Sicklerville. He had attended schools in both the Atlantic City and Gloucester Township school systems and was a former player for the Atlantic City Dolphins and Pleasantville Jokers football teams.
His sudden and violent death sent ripples of shock and grief through his community and family.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit, in conjunction with the Atlantic City Police Department, launched a homicide investigation. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible for McBride's death. Despite their efforts, public information regarding any arrests, identified suspects, or subsequent legal proceedings in the case has not been made available.
