On a Sunday evening in Irvington, New Jersey, the life of 27-year-old Damian Thompson was tragically cut short. On February 11, 2024, police responded to a report of a shooting on the 200 block of Isabella Avenue at approximately 9:22 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered a chaotic scene with three men injured.
Two of the men, including Thompson, had sustained gunshot wounds, while a third had suffered a leg injury.
All three were transported to University Hospital in Newark for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Damian Thompson, a male resident of Irvington, was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m. The other two men were treated for non-fatal injuries.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force immediately launched an investigation into the shooting. In the initial stages of the inquiry, it was reported that detectives were looking into the possibility that one of the injured individuals was a potential suspect in the incident.
