In the early hours of a Monday morning in June 2024, the life of 20-year-old Quashawn Moses of East Orange was tragically cut short by gunfire in Irvington Township. Responding to multiple reports of shots fired at approximately 1:22 a.m., Irvington police officers arrived at a building in the 300 block of 21st Street to a grim scene. There, near the entrance, they discovered the young man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency services rushed Quashawn Moses to University Hospital in
nearby Newark. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m. The male individual responsible for the fatal shooting had fled the scene before law enforcement arrived and has not yet been apprehended.
In the wake of the shooting, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide Task Force, in collaboration with detectives from the Irvington Police Department, launched a thorough investigation into the incident. Authorities have urged anyone with information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspect or suspects to come forward and contact the prosecutor's tips line. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Quashawn Moses, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.
