In the pre-dawn hours of a Saturday in April, the quiet of an Irvington, New Jersey street was violently disrupted by gunfire. When the echoes of the shots faded, one man lay dying and another was wounded, casualties of an incident that would leave a family grieving and a community on edge. The life lost was that of Eliameau Maxime, a 32-year-old male from the neighboring city of Orange. The shooting took place on Union Avenue on April 24, 2021.
