In the winter of 2023, the life of Albert Lamonte Henderson Jr. was tragically cut short in Portsmouth, Virginia. On the morning of February 20, the 41-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1500 block of Lasalle Avenue. First responders arrived at the scene to find Henderson suffering from a serious gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Portsmouth Police Department
immediately launched a homicide investigation into Henderson's death. Their efforts led them to identify a suspect in the case. Just a few weeks later, on March 2, authorities took 37-year-old Marcus Starks into custody. His arrest was the result of a determined investigation by law enforcement to bring justice for Henderson and his grieving family and friends.
Following his arrest, Marcus Starks was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The charges against Starks suggest a deliberate and violent act that ended Henderson's life. Starks' arrest brought a sense of closure to some, as the individual believed to be responsible for the senseless act of violence was now in custody and would have to answer for his alleged actions within the legal system.
