On June 1, 2023, 56-year-old Larry Burgess was fatally shot near 41st Street and Roanoke Avenue in Newport News, Virginia. Responding to reports of gunfire around 2:11 p.m., police officers found Burgess suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
