In the warm afternoon light of June 1, 2023, tragedy struck in a Newport News, Virginia neighborhood. Larry A. Burgess, a 56-year-old male, was in the vicinity of 41st Street and Roanoke Avenue when the sound of gunfire shattered the peace of the day.
