In the early morning hours of December 1, 2024, a violent encounter in a Newport News, Virginia, apartment left 26-year-old Jude Forfeuil fatally wounded. Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Gloucester Drive around 2:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene with three men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Inside the apartment, one man, identified as 23-year-old Jesus Hamilton of Hampton, was pronounced dead.
Forfeuil, a resident of Yorktown, and another male victim were rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite medical efforts, Forfeuil succumbed to his injuries. The third individual was last reported to be in stable condition.
Newport News Police Chief Steve Drew addressed the public, stating that the preliminary investigation suggests the incident was not a random act. He indicated that the shooting was an isolated event connected to illegal substances and firearms, and that the individuals involved were acquainted with one another. This has led investigators to believe the attack was targeted.
As the investigation continues, authorities have not yet publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the deaths of Forfeuil and Hamilton. Detectives are actively working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the deadly shooting and have expressed their intent to interview multiple individuals who may have information about the case. The police have encouraged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation.
