In the early morning hours of June 10, 2023, the life of 19-year-old Antione Fox of Fredericksburg, Virginia, was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:30 a.m., Fredericksburg Police responded to a call about an unconscious male bleeding in the 1700 block of Lafayette Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers discovered Fox with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the officers and emergency medical services, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Fox was identified as a Black male.
The initial investigation revealed a scene of violence, with several vehicles struck by gunfire and numerous cartridge casings scattered in the area. For nearly two years, the case remained under active investigation, with Fredericksburg Police detectives dedicating significant time and effort to bring justice for Fox and his family. In the days following the shooting, the police department offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest, which was later increased to $10,000 to encourage community assistance.
A significant breakthrough in the case came on May 29, 2025, when the Fredericksburg Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect. Ahmad Haigler, a 26-year-old from the neighboring Spotsylvania County, was taken into custody. The arrest was the result of evidence collected throughout the extensive investigation. Haigler was subsequently held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
Ahmad Haigler faces multiple serious charges in connection with the death of Antione Fox. These charges include first-degree murder, use of a firearm to commit murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. According to court records, a preliminary hearing was scheduled for the Monday following his arrest. If convicted of first-degree murder, Haigler could face a sentence ranging from a minimum of 20 years to life in prison.
