In the early hours of a late summer morning, a bonfire party on county-owned land near the Hunting Run Reservoir in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, turned tragic. Christian Archer Whalen, a 19-year-old male from Fredericksburg, was fatally shot on September 1, 2024, while attempting to act as a peacemaker during a fight that erupted among a large group of teenagers.
