In the early morning hours of August 21, 2024, the life of 23-year-old Camry Diamonte Chisholm was tragically cut short in Portsmouth, Virginia. A Black male, Chisholm was discovered by Portsmouth Police officers around 6:46 a.m. in the 300 block of Ansell Avenue, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Portsmouth Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating Chisholm's death as a homicide.
Despite their efforts, authorities have not yet identified any suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. Investigators have not released information regarding a possible motive for the killing. The police have urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Portsmouth Police Investigations Bureau or the Crime Line.
In the wake of this violence, Chisholm's family and friends mourned his passing. A viewing was held on August 28, 2024, followed by a celebration of his life the next day at Metropolitan Funeral Service in Portsmouth. He was laid to rest at Olive Branch Cemetery.
