In the early hours of a Wednesday morning, a burst of violence shattered the pre-dawn quiet in Portsmouth, Virginia, claiming the life of Lorenzo Bernat. On February 28, 2018, the 26-year-old man found himself in the 1900 block of Victory Boulevard where he sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his abdomen. In a desperate attempt to survive, Bernat managed to get himself to Chesapeake General Hospital.
