In the early morning hours of September 10th, the life of 15-year-old Erster Dionysos Hatch, Jr. was tragically cut short in Newport News, Virginia. A tenth-grade student at Menchville High School, the young male, affectionately known to his loved ones as DJ, was waiting for the school bus just two blocks from his home when he was fatally shot at approximately 6:20 a.m. The brazen nature of the daytime shooting sent ripples of fear and sorrow through the community.
