On November 2, 2023, 30-year-old Hilton Head resident and U.S. Army veteran, Tyler Justin Wimbush, was fatally shot near his home on Allen Road. Deputies responded to reports of a reckless driver on Marshland Road around 5:50 p.m., followed shortly by reports of gunfire in the same area. Upon arrival, they found Wimbush deceased on the roadside, accompanied by his dog, Kharisma, who had also been shot but survived after receiving treatment.
