On December 22, 2023, 21-year-old Jamal Ta'Rek Thames was found deceased inside a parked car on Manning Avenue in Sumter, South Carolina. Sumter Police Department officers responded to a shooting call around 9:30 p.m. and discovered Thames, of Meadowbrook Road, with fatal gunshot wounds.
