In the winter of 2025, the city of Shreveport, Louisiana, was shaken by the violent death of a beloved member of its community. Billy Jamison, a 67-year-old male, was going about his workday as a pharmaceutical delivery driver on the morning of Wednesday, January 22nd. As he exited his delivery vehicle in the parking lot of a Walgreens at the intersection of Kings Highway and Line Avenue, he was shot during an armed robbery.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m., and though he was quickly transported to Ochsner LSU Health hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after at 10:47 a.m. This senseless act marked the second homicide of the year for Shreveport and Caddo Parish.
The Shreveport Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the heinous crime. Authorities believed Jamison was specifically targeted by the assailants, who were attempting to rob him of the medical drugs in his vehicle and steal his van. The brazen nature of the morning attack left the community in shock. Remembered by family and friends as a kind, compassionate, and godly man, Jamison was a respected figure in his community. An autopsy was ordered to be performed to aid in the investigation.
Within days of the shooting, investigators identified two suspects in connection with the murder: Kelvin Lewis, 38, and Larry Lewis. Police believe Kelvin Lewis was the one who fatally shot Jamison. He was apprehended in Arlington, Texas, on an unrelated charge shortly after the incident. The other suspect, Larry Lewis, who has a lengthy criminal history involving drugs and weapons charges, was still being sought by police. The Federal Bureau of Investigation joined the case, offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any other individuals who may have been involved, suggesting investigators believe others could have played a role in the crime. The relationship between Kelvin and Larry Lewis has been described as familial, though the exact nature of their connection has not been publicly established.
