In the early hours of January 9, 2024, the life of 15-year-old Steven McConnell, a Black male, was tragically cut short in his own home on Spruce Street in Spartanburg, South Carolina. An act of violence shattered the morning quiet, as McConnell was fatally shot. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead at 4:39 a.m.
