In the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 1, 2024, the life of 34-year-old Hakeem Samall Burnet was cut short in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Police responded to a call about a shooting in the vicinity of Grove and Hayes Streets at approximately 1:50 a.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Burnet, a Black male, on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his body.

Emergency services were dispatched to the scene and promptly transported Burnet to Merit Health River Region ...
