In the early hours of May 1, 2024, Vicksburg Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting near Grove Street and Hayes Street. Upon arrival around 1:50 a.m., they discovered 34-year-old Hakeem Samall Burnett lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. Burnett was promptly transported to Merit Health River Region, where he was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, 41-year-old Rheuvonia Ramekia Buck was arrested and charged with murder. Authorities believe the ...Read More
