On Sunday morning, March 30, 2014, Rico Butler, a 36-year-old man from Clarksdale, Mississippi, was riding through his hometown with a passenger when violence found him on Adams Avenue. The neighborhood was starting another ordinary day when shots rang out along the 100 block. Gunfire tore into the vehicle, striking both men. Butler was mortally wounded, and by the time first responders reached him he was pronounced dead at the scene, while his passenger was rushed to the hospital with injuries
