Responding to a call, Dewitt Township Police discovered Emily had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.

She brightened the days of those she encountered at Oriole Nutrition in Charlotte and provided compassionate care to the elderly at The Oaks in Battle Creek. Her kindness extended beyond her professional life; she was a proud dog mom to her beloved Pumpkin and cherished her family and friends. Despite facing her own health challenges, including a diagnosis of the same cancer that had claimed her father's life at a young age, she maintained a positive outlook.
The day after Emily's body was discovered, authorities arrested 27-year-old Bradley Corey in connection with her death. Corey was subsequently charged with open murder, possession of cocaine, and felony firearm. During his arraignment on September 12, 2024, he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
