In the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2015, a 911 call from 22-year-old Jessica Drummond shattered the holiday peace in Marquette Township, Michigan. Responding State Police troopers arrived at the residence on Moran Street to a grim scene. Inside, they discovered the bodies of Jessica, her friend Brodie Dagenais, also 22, and 26-year-old Charles Masterson.
All three lived in the home where they were found.
Subsequent investigation by the Michigan State Police indicated that Charles Masterson had shot and killed both Jessica Drummond and Brodie Dagenais in a domestic dispute before turning the firearm on himself. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, with Masterson as the sole suspect in the deaths of his two housemates. Autopsies were performed to confirm the causes of death. As the perpetrator died at the scene, there were no arrests or subsequent criminal proceedings.
Jessica Claire Drummond, born on September 13, 1993, was a graduate of Marquette Senior High School and had recently earned an associate's degree in criminal justice from Northern Michigan University. She was described as a nurturing person with a great love for animals. Tragically, at the time of her death, Jessica was pregnant with her first child. She was looking forward to starting a new job and embracing motherhood.
