In the late summer of 2014, the life of 12-year-old Shellsea Lefebre was tragically cut short on Drummond Island, Michigan. A seventh-grader from Sault Ste. Marie, Shellsea was visiting the island with her family. On September 21st, while on a hunting trip, a rifle that had been placed in the front of their vehicle, uncased and with the safety off, accidentally discharged. The single shot struck Shellsea, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, inflicting a fatal wound.
