On the evening of March 1, 2019, a tragic event unfolded in Dearborn, Michigan, leading to the death of 28-year-old Junika Hardy, a female from Livonia. At approximately 7:50 p.m., police were dispatched to the 17600 block of Michigan Avenue near the Southfield Freeway following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Hardy was found on the ground outside the driver's side of a vehicle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Standing near Hardy's body was 27-year-old Allen Michael Sherrill of Detroit. According to investigators, Sherrill had been a passenger in the back seat of the vehicle Hardy was driving when he allegedly shot her. The motive for the shooting was not immediately made public. Sherrill was taken into custody at the scene.
Following the investigation, the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office brought several charges against Allen Michael Sherrill. These charges included first-degree murder, carrying a concealed weapon, and a felony firearms violation. Sherrill was arraigned in 19th District Court on March 5, 2019. During his arraignment, the judge ordered him to be held without bond. A probable cause conference was scheduled for March 15, followed by a preliminary examination on March 22 of the same year.
