On July 5, 2023, shortly after midnight, a mass shooting occurred during a block party on Chippewa Boulevard near Kiowa Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland. The incident resulted in seven individuals being shot, including 14-year-old X'Zavier C. Maddox, who succumbed to his injuries after being transported to TidalHealth hospital.
