On the evening of November 28, 2023, the life of 20-year-old Orlando Alexander Satz Jr. was cut short in a quiet residential neighborhood in Silver Spring, Maryland. A Hispanic male, Satz was discovered after his Toyota Corolla crashed into a parked car in the 3600 block of Spruell Drive at approximately 9:40 p.m. Initially appearing as a routine car accident, the situation took a grim turn when first responders discovered that Satz had sustained apparent gunshot wounds. His death was subsequently ruled a homicide, launching a months-long investigation by the Montgomery County Department of Police.

The investigation into Satz's death led to a series of arrests in the following year. The first breakthrough came on June 20, 2024, with the arrest of 20-year-old Jose Ramon Ventura of Silver Spring. Ventura was charged with being an accessory after the fact, accused of driving the getaway vehicle, a black Honda Civic, that transported the individuals believed to be responsible for the shooting. Authorities alleged that Ventura aided the suspects in fleeing the scene on the night of the murder. He was taken into custody and held without bond.

Further developments in the case unfolded in the subsequent months. On August 27, 2024, detectives arrested a second suspect, 22-year-old De'Shaun McCrimmon of Kensington. He was apprehended in Silver Spring and charged with first-degree murder for his alleged role in the shooting death of Satz. Like Ventura, McCrimmon was held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit without bond. The investigation culminated with the charging of a third individual on September 25, 2024. Alonzo Jerome Lyles, a 22-year-old from Gaithersburg, was charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection to Satz's death. At the time the warrant was issued, Lyles was already incarcerated on unrelated charges.
