On a Tuesday afternoon in April 2022, tragedy struck in the Cloverly area of Silver Spring, Maryland, forever altering the lives of a local family. Jahiem Rayquan Pinnock, a 19-year-old male, was found in a parking lot on Good Hope Drive with a gunshot wound. The incident, which occurred around 3:40 p.m. on April 12, prompted numerous calls to the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center.
Responding officers from the Montgomery County Police 4th District provided immediate first
aid to Pinnock before he was transported to a local hospital by Montgomery County Fire Rescue. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. Witnesses at the scene reported that the individuals responsible had fled in a green Toyota sedan.
A lookout was promptly issued for the suspect vehicle. A short time later, a 3rd District officer, on his way to roll-call, spotted a vehicle matching the description near New Hampshire Avenue and Jackson Road. When officers attempted to conduct a felony stop, the driver of the Toyota sped away, leading to a police pursuit. The chase ended after the suspect vehicle ran a red light, crossed a center median, which damaged a tire, and came to a stop on Powder Mill Road.
Following the stop, one of the occupants, identified as 20-year-old Glen Ellis of Takoma Park, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a short pursuit. The driver, 19-year-old Jose Angel Calderon Nolasco of Beltsville, was taken into custody without incident. Both men were subsequently charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Jahiem Rayquan Pinnock. At the time of their arrest, authorities stated that the investigation was still active and ongoing.
