On the evening of September 10, 2023, a sense of normalcy was shattered in the 1300 block of Northeast 8th Street in Oklahoma City. Earlier in the day, Quantrell Steele, a 25-year-old Black male, had been enjoying time at Pitts Park. Later, he and some companions made a stop at a 7-Eleven before heading to the Tree Lounge, where they spent some time in the parking lot.
